What Is Invisalign?
Invisalign braces are clear, removable teeth aligners, recommended by many respected orthodontists and dentists worldwide as a more cosmetically appealing and often more effective alternative to traditional wire and metal dental braces. Invisalign is an innovative treatment plan for correcting and improving badly aligned and crooked teeth, including such orthodontic issues as cross bite and overcrowded teeth. It can be helpful for minor issues and more severe problems.
How Does It Work?
Invisalign works using advanced 3D computer imaging technology. Invisalign assesses your teeth and their arrangement and depicts a complete treatment plan using specially made clear teeth aligners which are custom made for your teeth, based on your dental practitioner’s prescription. The 3D images detail the initial position of your teeth to the final desired position.
Then a series of clear aligners are custom-made for your teeth which will move any flawed teeth little by little into the desired position.
Each aligner is worn for a period of time; before being replaced by a new set of aligners. Eventually the final corrected position of your teeth will be reached.
Many people find Invisalign invisible braces more comfortable and flexible than traditional braces.
Your Invisalign treatment time will be determined by your dentist or orthodontic specialist, based on your specific orthodontic needs.
Invisalign aligners move teeth with controlled movements on the teeth. It is a very subtle and holistic process controlling the amount of correction per teeth over a specific time period, with each tooth being encouraged to move, as determined by the orthodontic treatment plan for that particular stage, towards the desired position.
As long as you are wearing your Invisalign dental braces they will be going to work on your individual teeth alignment problem in a controlled way.
Who Makes Invisalign?
Invisalign is designed, marketed and manufactured by US, California-based company Align Technology Inc. Invisalign aligners have now surpassed the one million sales mark. More than 58,000 dentists and orthodontists worldwide are certified to treat patients using Invisalign.
How Long Does Invisalign Treatment Take?
Each case and treatment needs to be taken on its own specific merits and the needs of the patient. Generally speaking the more that needs to be done then the longer the treatment will be to allow the aligners to work effectively.
As a guide minimum Invisalign treatments are usually not under one year; a year to a year and half is common to see impressive results as long as patients follow their dental practitioner’s advice on the amount of time the Invisalign braces should be worn per day.
Your certified Invisalign dentist or orthodontic practitioner will guide you through the process. You may have to consult with your dentist occasionally but the process is remarkably simple.
Your Invisalign certified orthodontist identifies when you need to move on to the next aligner in your treatment plan.
All of which helps to maintain the sustained and moderate pressure that the Invisalign braces exert throughout your individually tailored programme.
What Are Invisalign Braces Made Of?
Invisalign aligners are made of strong medical grade thermoplastic material, which is ideal for creating a flexible and high quality finish from moulding processes. Your Invisalign aligners will be uniquely developed for your Invisalign orthodontic treatment plan. The aligners will be specially created for you and should fit comfortably over your teeth.
