How Is It Made?
Invisalign Aligners – How Are They Made?
Innovative Technology, Professional Advice
If you are interested in having Invisalign aligners made for you, first you will need to visit an Invisalign specialist for an initial consultation.
Your Invisalign certified practitioner will advise you on your suitability for Invisalign treatment and if Invisalign treatment is recommended your specialist will then discuss all the pros and cons of treatment, and then determine a treatment plan, specifically designed for you.
Invisalign treatments can be used to correct underbites, overbites, cross bite and open bites, or crooked or irregular teeth; and various other defects of teeth and jaws, in all shapes and sizes.
Whether it is for cosmetic or health purposes, whatever your requirements, your Invisalign treatment plan will be created for your medical and cosmetic needs alone.
Your specialist Invisalign dentist or orthodontist will begin by taking dental impressions, x-rays and photographs of your teeth, as appropriate, and then send them to the Invisalign parent company Align Technology, where the impressions will be put into a 3D modelling system, to individually create the templates for your unique orthodontic treatment.
Technicians will examine the layout of your teeth in the computer mock up and create a final, ideal position as prescribed by your Invisalign dental practitioner/orthodontist.
Invisalign’s innovative software then simulates the movement of the teeth in a gradual and subtle number of stages.
The whole Invisalign treatment is assessed and modified as appropriate by your dental specialist and if approved, a set of lightweight, plastic resin aligners are created for each stage of the computer simulation’s prediction and then your treatment will begin.
You will have some flexibility during the process and the treatment is open to review. The final position of the teeth is not completely determined to begin with, and if necessary changes to the end position are required, new aligners can be created for you.
The whole process is totally scientific and extremely flexible based around you, the patient’s needs.
And of course, the best thing about your Invisalign treatment process and how the whole thing works is that most people will not notice you are receiving treatment.
Because Invisalign aligners are clear and almost invisible nothing will get in the way of you experiencing the joy of flashing off your new smile.
And because Invisalign offers you a high degree of comfort compared to traditional braces, as well as the convenience of being able to remove them to fit in with your lifestyle, especially for eating and drinking, Invisalign aligners allows you to feel more confident about your daily routine, in contrast to traditional dental brace treatments.
See And Discuss Your Desired Outcome
Because of the patient orientated approach of the Invisalign treatment programme you will also be able to see a virtual representation of your teeth before, during, and after the completion of the Invisalign process.
So you can see before and after at different stages of your treatment to check on progress; especially reassuring at the start of your treatment showing what your smile should look like when the Invisalign process is completed.
While the number of aligners will vary for each individual treatment, a full set usually includes about 20-30 aligners per arch.
You dental practitioner will advise you to wear your aligners at all times, with the exception of eating and drinking, in order to complete your treatment in the planned timeline and obtain the best results.
You will be expected to see your specialist for occasional dental checkups, to monitor progress and also receive your next set of Invisalign aligners.
Any questions on the process should be addressed to your Invisalign certified orthodontist.
